Visiting Malta in May-witnessed a national folk singing festival

A friend of mine has just got back from Malta and he told me the most wonderful stories about this country. I’m very keen on folk music of all the countries of the world and he says that there is this great national folk singing festival there in May which he witnessed. I’d like to go there next year and I’d also like to hear your experiences.

It is true that there is a National Folk Singing Festival in Malta but I can’t recall when exactly it takes place. I can tell you that since it is organized by the council for culture and arts of this country, that it is a first rate happening. Many people are prejudiced towards folk music but this is not the new folk music which is not critically acclaimed, but traditional which is part of Malta’s rich heritage. That is why I think that everybody who happens to be on Malta at the time when this great festival takes place, should visit it. Just open your mind and heart and you will be able to feel the emotion and this music will capture your attention.
