I suppose to go to South Africa but I have one dilemma. I have a dog that should come with me in case I dont find anyone to take care of him while I am on my vacation. I honestly have no clue how this trip could work if I bring my dog with me. Is it ok to travel to South Africa with pets?

I dont see why not, it is pet friendly land. I assume that if you are planning some kind of safari trip then watch out not to wonder on its own, keep it on a leash by your side, heh. no joke on a side (although this one is not much far from the truth), just check if your hotel is allowing having pets, get your policy and be prepared that pet will be some time in quarantine. And I am not sure if they are asking for rabies vaccination and a health certificate, for that you should apply I think almost six months before your trip. I would advise you to microchip your pet and maybe the best way is to ask South African Embassy for all pets travel rules and regulations that you need to fulfill.
