Howdy, folks. I am preparing a little trip to Minsk at the end of the year. I am a little afraid of that city, because Ive never been to Belarus and I hear that their government is still repressive, even after the fall of the Iron Curtain. I wonder how I can get to Minsk, considering that I live in US. Can you provide me with any kind of information?
Hello. Well, I suggest you to pay a visit to Belarus Embassy in Washington where you can be well informed. I suggest you to get a tourist visa. It is much simpler to get it than the private visa. You must contact the travel agencies. I also recommend you to ask around what hotels the travel agency you choose offers. Many agencies have only few hotels on their disposal. I must confess you that Minsk is pretty safe city. I think it is because of the number of policemen and soldiers on the street. Small criminals cant make a profit there. Ordinary people are very friendly, but the authorities are not very mild to the foreigners, especially to Americans.
