My husband and I are planning to spend one week in Spain and the other in France. We will leave big cities like Madrid and Paris for some other trip. We heard that small towns are much more interesting and charming. I would appreciate some tips for planning trip to Narbonne. We have the itineraries for other places.
Well, Narbonne is a nice place where you can feel the spirit of France. There are quite a few nice things you can see and do there but I would suggest you not to miss the former cathedral of Saint-Just built in 1272; the Archbishop's Palace and its donjon with very good views over Narbonne. Last, but not least, Narbonne plage.
I would like to add few of my suggestions: Musee Archeologique - an archaeological museum located downtown; the Roman Horreum, a former grain warehouse; the canal, "Canal de la Robine”, which goes right through the town’s center; remains of the Via Domitia, also in the center of the city. You may also find "La Clape", the limestone massif interesting.
