The weather in The Adirondacks in august

When would be the best time to go to the Adirondacks, and is August a good time of the year for something like that? I heard that it is a great destination in this region for all those who enjoy whitewater rafting, and I would like to go there while it is still summer.

Well, as far as I know spring is the best time of the year for whitewater rafting in the Adirondacks, but I guess that summer and August cannot be so bad either, because the season last until October. So, I guess that there is no reason why you should not go in August.
