Sydney to Melbourne and back

Whats the distance between Sydney and Melbourne? Im planning to drive that distance and travel along the coast. Can you tell me something more about this route? Is there anything I should pay attention to? What are the roads like and how long can this journey last? Ive read that its not so recommendable to travel by car through Australian bush. Is that true?

Its very likely true, but the difference is that this route is very safe. That is even one of the things that tourists are offered to do as an adventure. Roads are excellent and its not a drive through unpopulated regions, but through towns. There is the itinerary showing where to go and what to visit. You drive through sections and then make a stopover in one of the towns and villages along the road, where you can enjoy various culinary specialties. This region is also famous for its wines and you should taste it. But, dont drink and drive. Either taste it before you go to sleep or take turns with the person traveling with you.
