Hello. My name is George and Im a student of botany at University of Chicago. This month Im traveling to Kangaroo Island in order to study the plants there. I need a convenient accommodation, but since the University is not covering expenses, I should find something modest. What are my options? And what kind of infrastructure exists there? I hope that Ill have access to at least dial-up internet connection.

Kangaroo Island is only 13 kilometers away from Australia and in case you dont like the accommodation you can find there, you can perhaps look for better conditions on the mainland. There is air and sea transport by means of which you can easily travel to and fro Kangaroo Island. I dont think that there is a fast internet connection, but dial-up surely exists. But I still suggest you to stay at one of numerous B&B facilities on the island, because itll be easier to carry your equipment. Id just like to mention that B&Bs are relatively expensive here, so the best solution would be accommodation in a private house where you could rent a room. When youre already down there, dont forget to see penguins.
