Ive never been to Russia and now with a group of friends I plan to visit it. Were discussing our travel plans and up to now there is a list with several major cities of the former USSR. I want to include Vladivostok, but my friends disagree because it is too far and they think its not worth traveling that distance. What is your opinion?

Ill have to agree with your friends. Of course, I dont say the city itself and its location are not attractive for tourists, I just think that since youve never been to Russia you should visit Moscow, St. Pete, Kiev and other continental metropolises and leave Vladivostok for a Far East tour, because its location is more appropriate for that route. Besides, Ive heard that ever since its economy started thriving due to establishing of new kinds of business, corruption and crime flourished also, so that its not quite the safest place to visit. Certainly, Vladivostok has its attractions and I am perhaps a bit biased, but the decision is yours and I hope my suggestions are helpful.
