| Hi! In several days, I will have my first holiday trip to Alaska. I have heard there are a lot of grizzlies. I am not sure whether to believe in such a thing. Also, if there indeed are grizzlies, I would like to know if there is a reason I should be afraid of them, or are they far from regular tourist places. If someone can help me, it would mean so much. |

| Grizzlies indeed have frightening appearance. They are relatively fast, incredibly strong and they can also climb the trees. There are many of them in Alaska, but they have specific habitats. You should know that there is organized sport hunting of grizzlies, so you see there are people not afraid of them. However, these people have all the hunting equipment, while you are simply a tourist. Your position is quite different and the answer to your question would be that you should not be scared of grizzlies, unless of course you cross into their habitats taunting them. Then they can be very dangerous. If you are into some adventuring, be sure to either get a good guide, or a detailed advice from such guide in order not to have your path crossed with a grizzly. |
