I will be passing through Vienna by train on my way to Paris. Since I am not in too much of a hurry, I will stay for a day in the city. I heard a lot about the sweets there so I would not want to miss an opportunity of buying them. I havent been there before, so I would like to know what are the better candy shops in the city.

First, you should know there are several shopping areas. Kohlmarkt, Kaerntner Strasse and Graben are among the most exclusive places to shop. There is of course various things to be bought. Since you are interested in candies, go to Manner-schnitten. Also, Meinl am Graben is obligatory if you really want to enjoy all the fantastic things Vienna offers for shopping in one place. Demel on Kohlmarkt is also a store you simply must visit. Among other things, the products there can be wonderful as the shopping gifts and there is no person on the planet that would not want to get a present from a store like that. Since you will not stay for very long, I think this is more than enough for start.
