Salton Sea very close to Palm Springs

Hello! What can you tell me about the Salton Sea apart from the fact that it's located close to Palm Springs? I'd like to visit it this weekend with my husband, we heard of the Salton Sea State Recreation Area, but non of the friends in the hood could tell us more about this location nor the area. The information we got at the travel agency was quite poor so I was hoping you could help us and tell us more? Thanks!

Hi! Salton Sea is located about less than an hour from Palm Springs, Southern California. It was accidentally created about hundred years ago when canal levy bursted and Colorado River flooded the area. If you like fishing or bird watching it is the best place for relaxing. The low cliffs around the lake are homes to hundreds of birds, like pelicans for instance.
