Recommendation for Mahmud

I am history student. I like to visit places where big and important things happened or big and important monuments. I visited Rome, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin I would like this summer to go and visit some special place, but place that has strong history background. I cant decide where to go. Every suggestion helps. Thank you.

Because you are history student, I have suggestion for you. I recommend you to go to Ghazna and visit the Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni's Monument. Ghazna is maybe not very large or interesting place, but from the history point of view it will be interesting for you. He was the son of the Turkish slave. He became the ruler of Ghazni. He was very good and talented ruler. He conquered India and the bigger part of Iran. He made Ghazna a great center of art and culture. So I give you my recommendation for Mahmud.
