I thought that Mongolia was a region of China. I didnt know that it was a sovereign state. I am also not sure if Tibet is just the central part of China or an independent region within the boundaries of China. However, I am very interested in Mongolia and Id like to go there as soon as possible. My friend is not very happy for that. He thinks that I could choose something better as our destination this summer, but I became obsessed with this country and wont change my decision.

Oh, Mongolia is a republic between China and Siberia. It has never been a part of China, but is very similar to it because of the communist regime and some other historical and cultural similarities. It was under the strong influence of USSR. It mainly consists of steppes on which hardly anything can be grown. The Gobi desert is in the south of Mongolia and the mountains in the north. Its climate is very sharp the winters are extremely cold. It has the lowest density in the world. One third of the population consists of Nomads. The predominant religion is Buddhism. Youve probably heard of Kublai Khan the military emperor.
