I’m planning to spend my holiday in Izmir and I could use a couple suggestions because I have never been in Turkey before. I’d like to know something about this city because I have decided to go there after I have seen some photos and I liked it very much. How did you like the city? Is there something interesting to see?

Of course there is! Izmir is one of the biggest cities in Turkey. It is located on the coast of the Aegean Sea and what I like about it is the fact that there it is a combination of various civilizations and cultures which used to live there. This is an ancient city formerly known as Myrna. Architecture is both oriental and Mediterranean. I just loved the place where the Clock Tower is - a large promenade overlooking the sea with all those palm trees. It is breathtaking. Then, the old train station dating back from the 19th century is also a place to see. Don’t miss out on trying the specialties from its national cuisine. It is mouthwatering and I ate zerde, a rice dessert, every day instead of ice-cream.
