Vietnam is my near future destination for the next month or two. I am pretty much informed about what can I expect there, but I am not sure how the things stand with mobile phones. I will need a cell phone while I am there and I need to know should I bring my own or not.

You should definitely bring your own, because there is no reason why you should buy a new phone when you already have one. If you are planning to stay longer and use mobile phone, them my suggestion is to buy a new phone card because it would be much cheaper them to use your own. That is when you call phone numbers inside the Vietnam. If you intend to call numbers outside the Vietnam then you should bring your own phone card. This country is very much developed and there is nothing to worry about. Just bring everything you have in connection to mobile phone and you will be all set.
