Malaria pills for Colombia?

I am curious to hear how effective malaria pills are and how am I suppose to use them. I am about to visit Columbia with my family within a month and a half and we are all pretty much concerned over malaria issue so I would much appreciate if someone tells me do I actually need these malaria pills for Colombia at all? Thanks!

Well I have visited Bogota a few times but I never took a single malaria pill though from the other hand I was obliged to have a valid vaccination certificate related to yellow fever so I suggest you all better have this yellow fever vaccination. And also talk this malaria pills issue with a doc before you reach Bogota for I think in some cases malaria pills for Colombia are still good to have and it all depends on what area of Colombia you are about to visit.
