| ello there. Lamu Fort is a building on the Lamu Island, which was built at the beginning of the 19th century. After it was built, it served as a garrison for Baluchi soldiers, who came here under the order of Sultan of Oman. They were some kind of protective force, which helped the trade to develop here, attracting many merchandisers. It used to be a prison to, from 1910 to 1984. It was handed to the National Museum of Kenya afterwards, and it is still used it this purpose. Be sure to visit it during your holiday , it is a very important historical building. |
