Is there anything special about Laos?

Since my boyfriend and I are trying to make some kind of itinerary for our trip to Asia, we are trying to figure out which countries we would like and should visit. We are pondering about Laos, so is there anyone who could tell us if there is something special about it?

Maybe it is just me, I don’t know, but of all the Asian countries I visited, Laos was definitely not the one that left the greatest impression on me. I even had some bad experience with the place I stayed at, so maybe that has something to do with it, but anyway, my advice is to skip it.

Is there anything special about Laos?
