Is Vesak festival related to Buddha?

I am going to Sri Lanka very soon. I am too busy for preparations so I left it to my wife. We are looking forward to this trip. I heard of Vesak festival. My friend claims that it has something to do with Buddhism but I am not sure. Is Vesak festival related to Buddha?

Yes it is. In fact, the Vesak festival is also called the Buddha Day. The festival is celebrating three most important events in Buddha’s life: his birth, Enlightenment and passing away (on the full moon of the 6th lunar month). It is the most important festival for Buddhists. Don’t miss it.
