Is Taxi fare expensive in Paris?

Since my two friends and I plan to spend next week in Paris, we would really like to hear if taxi fares are expensive in this city. None of us has ever been in this famous city before, and we plan to use this week in the best possible way. So, getting around the city is an important issue in our case.

I am sure you already know that Paris is a very expensive city. I cannot remember anything that is not expensive there, so I can assure you that if you plan to use taxi as a way of getting around the city, you will need even more money than you have probably planed to spend. My advice would be to choose any other way of getting around the city.
