I am planning on going to Lima with a friend –we will stay there for about 2 weeks. I actually need some info about Inti Raymi Festival in Cuzco for our stay there involves also trip to Cuzco and for about the same time this Inti Raymi Festival would take place I am curious to know something about it-what is it about and how long it takes. Thanks!
Inti Raymi Festival is celebrated in June and it is actually Sun Festival that takes its origin from the ancient Inka civilization. Actually Inti Raymi Festival is about manifesting an homage to the Sun God for back in their times Inkas were afraid of its lack. Anyway this festival is performed each year and it is always kept on the winter solstice that means at the time when the sun is farthest from the planet. Anyway Inti Raymi Festival in Cuzco is an original event –it takes a whole week and thousands of people get to Cuzco on the festival singing and dancing for the streets days and nights. Anyway being in Peru at about this time and not seeing the Inti Raymi Festival in Cuzco would be just a pity. And than again you have a week to stay in Lima and a week to spent in Cuzco for this festival-and trust me this way you will get the authentic Peru experience
