I need some info about new bridge to Machu Picchu-I mean is it true that there is a bridge now. I went there about 3 or 4 years ago and had my first Inca trail. Anyway there was no bridge at that time so I quit of visiting several villages there on the other side of the Vilcanota River. Anyway I have heard there is some new bridge there to Machu Picchu and I would like some info about that please.

Yes there is a new bridge to Machu Picchu that leads right to the Santa Teresa little village. Anyway I went there few times and I even passed onto the other side of the river with some construction that takes only one person at a time bringing her/him onto the other side and if you ask me this is so authentic that I think that some bridge would only ruin the nature here. Of course bridges are ok and in general there was a need for a new bridge to Machu Picchu but I just hope it is not about some too modern bridge that would make this area develop as the Sacred Valley destroying its authenticity.
