I need help thinking of a flexible itinerary in Australia?

Hi everyone! I am about to go off on a trip - I am going to start university in October and want to enjoy my freedom while I still can. I think that Australia would be a great country to travel through, and my friend has agreed to come too! Has anyone got experience with this? We need a flexible itinerary!

I am sorry but what do you mean? What is a flexible itinerary!? What do you need to be flexible? The amount of time you spend in one place? The dates? The places you actually want to visit? I don't really understand what it is that you are after. If you could clarify what you want, I will come back to you with some suggestions.
