| Chilean cuisine originates from the nice combination of traditional indigenous cuisines and the cuisine brought by Spaniards in the 16th century. Wine accompanies and enhances many recipes. Depending on the geographical region, there are three distinctive types of Chilean cuisine: Cuisine of the North, Cuisine of the central coast and Cuisine of the South. Indigenous contribution is the most visible in a wide variety of condiments like seafood, fish, meats and poultry. As for the Spanish and other foreign influence, a host of main dishes, many desserts and drinks are the direct result of that influence. |
