How to find a hotel during festivals?

Sometimes it’s a mess when you have to go to some city for work or pleasure and exactly in the same period when you are planning to go there is some kind of a festival there and you can’t book a room. What do you think about how to find a hotel during festivals?

Yeah, finding a hotel during festivals is a mess. It happened to me in Venice, during the film festival and also in Cannes, but there I was lucky to stay at my friend’s home in Nice, so it wasn’t a problem. The only solution I have is either to find a hotel much before the festival starts and book a room, or to stay outside the city if you can’t book in advance. I don’t know what else to say…
