How safe is Ipanema for tourists during summer?

What I am interested in is how safe are tourists in Ipanema during summer? It is not like I am worried about my own safety, it is just that I always like to check this out before I decide to go on any trip. I have never been to Brazil yet, and I would like to stay in Ipanema if I go to Rio this summer.

There is absolutely no need for you (or anyone else who plans to stay in this part of the city) to worry about the safety during summer, or any other season, because it is definitely one of the safest areas in Rio de Janeiro. So just relax and enjoy your time there.
