How do I reach Sunset Key from Miami?

I am going to Miami this year, my first trip to this part of US. While I am there, I am interested to go to sunset Key but I have no idea how to get there. I know I am being completely clueless here but I wonder if any of you could help me out to solve this. Thanks in advance!

Oh you are going on a really sunny vacation, ha? I guess the best way is to go through Key West. The fastest and the most expensive way is to take a plane in Miami and then ferry ride from Key West to Sunset Key. I think you also have an option to pass the whole destination and spend some time during this journey on water. Which means get on a ferryboat in Miami all prepared for the 3-4 hours trip to Key West and then do the same thing just shorter ride to Sunset Key. Hope you dont have sea sickness!
