I am a student, and I am spending my holidays traveling through Europe. My journey begins from Vienna , where I’ll be staying for couple of days. My intentions are to travel cheep, by trains or buses. I have a student discount for train tickets, so I am interested what would be the best way to go by train from Austria to Italy- my next destination? Northern Italy would be great, but any suggestion is welcomed.

| Since you’ll be staying in Vienna, there will be no problem to find any train to Italy. Austria and Italy as neighbors , are very well connected with trains. You said you are specially interested in North Italy, like Venice, Florence, Allegro trains departure from Vienna to these cities. However, most Allegro trains you’ll find are for Rome and Venice, major cities. Be aware that Italian trains are more crowded and less reliable then Austrian. Austrian OBB trains have a limited number of super-discount fares and they are known by punctuality and comfort. The best way is to pick your fare in advance on some web-site and just enjoy the trip. |
