Getting a SIM card for France?

Hello, I am in a bit of dilemma. I will be staying in Paris for 5 weeks (finishing my French language course). And I am not so sure what would be the best way of communicating with home. Is getting a SIM card for France a good choice? Or should I try something else? Has anyone had any experience with this?

I think that you have to acquire prepaid SIM card and use it in world cell phone. That is simply the most practical method for talking with people back home. With this option, all incoming calls are free! And the procedure for getting this card is very simple; there is no need for a contract or something like that
