My boyfriend wants to go to Chile with me. While I don’t mind going there and learning something new about this country I would also like to enjoy myself and see some sunshine on the beach. On the other hand, he plans to see famous mummies of Chinchorro culture. What’s so special about them?

Well, they are quite impressive. There are two things that distinguish these mummies from others around the world. First one is the fact that, while most of the cultures preserved the dead elite, the Chinchorro mummified everybody, including children and even miscarried fetuses. Second, is the age of the mummies. While the oldest mummy found in Egypt is dated around 3000 BC, the oldest one found in the Atacama Desert goes back between 6000 and 5000 BC!
