Does anyone has a suggestions for a place to stay in the Mayan Rivera?

All of my friends that have visited Mayan Riviera swear that there is no more beautiful region in the world than that one. And I think it is finally time for me to go there and se what is this fuss all about. And since I know my friends too well, I guess I need some outside info about that area. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to stay in the Mayan Riviera?

I think that you will be more than satisfied with Playa Del Carmen. It is a place that grew immensely in past decade and became one of the most popular places for tourists all over the world. I even know some people that moved there to live for good, just sold everything and went there. I wish I could be that brave...
