Do I need a visa for Turkmenistan?

I met few people from Turkmenistan. We enjoyed each other’s company and we stayed in touch. Now they are inviting me to visit them. One of them lives in Turkmenbashi while the others are in Ashgabat. I would like to visit them and would like to know about the visa issues in this country. Do I need a visa for Turkmenistan?

Yes, US citizens need a visa to enter Turkmenistan. It usually takes 5-10 business days to get visa. However, you may speed up the process if you submit complete application with all the paperwork in order, and if you pay an additional 100% of the cost of the visa.
