My friend who lives in Milan invited me to come to Italy for the Christmas and New Years holidays. I decided to go there a week earlier and visit the famous Italian City of Bridges Venice. Id like to see the city of small islands separated by numerous canals. Id also like to ride in a gondola - I hope it is possible in winter.

Oh, yes it is. Passengers ride in gondolas and small waterbuses over the whole year. Venice is as beautiful and fantastic in December as it is in May. The city consists of small islands in a big lagoon. I think that you are lucky to choose December since there wont be much crowd in the streets. You cant miss Canal Grande which is the most famous and the biggest one. However, I liked The Small Canal, so-called Rio della Verona, most, where, I think, Madonna made her video-clip Like a Virgin. Still I dont think that you should visit Venice during spring and summer, despite the fact that its pretty crowded then.
