Charleston vs Savannah?

Hi, guys. I am from New York, but I would like to explore the American South a little since I havent been down there. I cant make up my mind which town to see for my first visit. Would it be Charleston or Savannah? I would like to hear the impressions from people who visited both cities. Thanks.

Hello, there. I have been in both Charleston and Savannah since I have relatives in both cities. I doubt you will be thrilled by any of these towns since you are a New Yorker, but maybe I am wrong. Charleston in South Carolina reminds to the one described in the movie or book Gone with the Wind. You can visit Fort Sumter, the place where the Civil War began. You should also check out the Battery (park), the Citadel (military college) and several cathedrals and churches. Maybe I prefer Savannah in Georgia. You should see River Street and Forsyth Park. Bonaventure Cemetery has some familiar names. I hope you will find something interesting for you. Good luck!
