I am getting ready to go to Rome. I will stay there for a couple of weeks. As I dont have too much money, I would appreciate if someone would tell me whether there are some shopping discounts in Rome, and are there any conveniences for me being an American? Thanks in advance!

I hope you will enjoy your stay in Rome. Rome is not the best place to find some good shopping discounts. There is one large outlet mall, MacArthur Glen Castel Romano, which is a fifteen kilometer-drive from Rome. There are almost 100 shops with all the famous designer brands with prices 30 to 70 percent below the full retail price. Fortunately, there are some good stores in Rome that offer discounts. Sales are twice a year, in January and July, with prices lower by 50 or even more. Look for stores like Antonella & Fabrizio, Le Grande Firme, Regola 33 Outlet, Tad Outlet or Victory. There are more, but start with these, and you are sure to save considerable amount of money. Being an American will not get you extra discounts, but if you have American Express card, you will find it more convenient to pay.
