I am planning to move to New York. I am currently in Charlotte. Can I get an advice from Charlotteans who lived in Charlotte and moved to New York? On what should I pay special attention? Major dos and donts
and everything you can remember and think I should know before moving. Write about anything that gets on your mind

The best thing to do before moving is to find a job. I made that mistake thinking that I am going to New York and jobs are laying around just waiting for me. But I was wrong and it is a terrible feeling spending money that you dont earn. So, first thing is to get a job. The second thing is to rent for a couple of months until you get to know the area and see what suites you the best. Never buy a place before you live there for a while, if that arrangement is possible. Dont rush into this; it is a big step for everybody. Think everything through and do what it seems to be the best for you.
