You should start your visit in Tiananmen Square. It is the center of China. It is also an entrance to the Forbidden City which is necessary for visiting. You should also visit Drum and Bell Towers. While in Beijing, you must try Chinese cuisine. I advise you to take Peking duck. You should make time for visiting temples as well: Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple and Confucius Temple. If you prefer shopping, then Silk Alley Market is a place for you.
