Sorry about this but I really need to know. In Paris, are there public toilets commonly available? Where are they and are they free? I am mainly thinking of the toilets in train station and so on. If they are not free, what is the cost? Would you need to take lots of small coins with you?

That is a question I have not heard before Wink What do you want to do in public toilets in Paris, I wonder. Sorry, joking of course Seriously, I have not been to Paris for a while now, but the last thing I heard Paris was about to get over 400 government-subsidized public toilets. This was an attempt to clean up the city.

As from 1st of February it will no longer cost the usual 40 centimes to use the public toilets (sanisettes) in Paris.

Some automatic-cleaning sanisettes are already free and all 420 will cost the user nothing to use as from the 15th of this Ferbruary.

One of the main reasons for this scheme is to help the homeless, who do not have enough money to pay for this service. Tourists can afford the small fee
