Anyone been to Italy in May?

Hi! I'm traveling to Italy in May and I was curious what the weather is like around that time? My friend was in Rome during June last year and he told me that was too hot for him. My mother lived in Rome for almost a decade and she told me that July can be hot, and that May is perfect for visiting. Any info about weather in there?

Normally it is just great! sunny and warm , but not too warm! may might be the best time to travel to Italy! I was in Rome in June 2005 and it was great weather, I couldn't ask for better. Also, a friend of mine was there in August, and it was still hot. May is probably the best time for visiting!
