Any nice and cheap restaurant in Jiufen?

Hi there! There must be someone here who has been to Jiufen before? It's you I am looking for! We are going there at the beginning of next year. It's a place we have never been to before, we haven't been anywhere in Taiwan actually, and I am hoping it is going to be great! Can you recommend any nice and cheap restaurant in Jiufen?

You would be hard pushed to find anything other than what you ask for in Jiufen. I think that there are few really expensive restaurants over there, and I have not actually had one bad meal in Jiufen either. So don't worry about it, go with the flow and enter the restaurants you like the look of.

There was a place that I particularly loved and we went there often during our stay. It is called Grandma Lai's Yuyuan, and it is on Jishan Street. They don't have a wide menu, but what they offer to you is of excellent quality and it's like paying next to nothing - very cheap!

There are numerous things to eat in Jiufen. Fishball soup, yuyuan , dumplings served hot or cold with sweet bean, and mochi are all widely available. The sheer number of restaurants can be a little overwhelming though. Grandma Lai's Yuyuan at No.143, Jishan Street, is the most famous one for its taro balls.
