Accomodations in Auckland?

I am heading to Auckland next week and, shamefully, I admit that I do not know one thing about the city. It is not that I would need that knowledge, but still, it would be nice to know a thing or two about the place where I will be staying for a week, until the seminar is over. Can you tell me something about the accommodations in Auckland?

I would recommend Rydges Auckland Hotel, with its 188 rooms, all with the latest that technology has to offer. Its position allows the guest to access easily both business and leisure part of the town (I think of Sky Tower and Casino complex). This place has everything you need for both business related stay and enjoyable resting stay.
